OUR BIOs
Meet Doc and Jess! The two hosts, best friends, and therapists talking nonstop about movies, shows, and all things cinema!

Dr. Sophia Murphy (DOC)
I've been a therapist for almost 2 decades and I've loved movies for much longer. Movies shaped my childhood as they brought joy and wonder and made me think critically about humans and their experiences. I have been fortunate to work with adults, adolescents, and children and have provided treatment to individuals, families, and groups. I predominantly focus on the value of multicultural competency and a deep exploration of the relationship between identity and health. I use movies and shows in my practice as a way to teach concepts, build empathy, and increase self-reflection.

Jess Fletcher
Call me Jess. I've been a therapist for nearly a decade and have always loved stories, film, and art. Over the course of my friendship with Doc, I have reignited my joy in cinema, now delighting in my solo trips to the movie theater. I feel so grateful to do the work I do as a therapist, providing care to the full life span and collectives (moresomes, families, couples). I hold a trauma-informed yoga lens, often focusing on re-connection between body, mind, community. I reference movies and metaphors in my practice as ways to foster self-compassion and awareness of how to feel connected to the human experience.
